Part 1: The Fall of Wall Maria (Season 1)
Humanity lives within three concentric walls (Wall Maria, Wall Rose, and Wall Sina) to protect themselves from Titans.
Eren Yeager, Mikasa Ackerman, and Armin Arlert live in Shiganshina District, a town in Wall Maria.
A colossal Titan suddenly appears and breaches Wall Maria, allowing smaller Titans to invade. Eren's mother is killed, and the trio narrowly escapes.
Eren vows to kill all Titans and joins the military with Mikasa and Armin. They train as soldiers and later join the Survey Corps, an elite group that ventures outside the walls to fight Titans.
During a mission, Eren is seemingly killed but awakens as a Titan, revealing he has the power to transform. This shocks everyone, as Titans were thought to be mindless enemies.
